Joint Entrance Examination Main Exam 2017(JEE Main)

The Joint Entrance Examination or the JEE exam as it is also known as, is the most popular exam among the students. The JEE is a two tier examination comprising of the main and the advanced. Only when students qualify in the JEE main exam can they appear for the advanced exam. This exam is regulated by CBSE Board.

WHAT IS JEE MAIN? 

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to various engineering colleges and courses all over the country. The test comprises two stages - JEE Main and the JEE Advanced. The exams are of the objective pattern. JEE Advanced is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging engineering admission tests. Work hard and crack it.  JEE-Main exam is for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) while the JEE-Advanced is for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Only the students selected in JEE Mains are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced.

JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria :

  • The candidate should have pass in 12th or equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2015 or 2016 are eligible to apply for this exam. 
  • For admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs candidates must have 75% marks in 10+2.
  • 65% marks for sc/st candidates.
  • The applicant should have been born on or after October 1, 1992 (or be 25 years old) to be eligible for admission.
  • If candidates belong to reserved category i.e. SC,ST and PwD category, then the date of birth falls on or after 1st October, 1987 are eligible for JEE MAIN.

Aadhaar Card Number :

  • A new eligibility criteria has been added by CBSE from the session of 2017-18. All applicants need to have registered Aadhaar Card Number to be able to fill the application form.

Number of Attempts : 

  • The applicants will be able to attempt JEE Main 3 times.

Note : Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam conducting body, follows the reservation rules for allocation of seats that are fixed by the government of India.

Home State Quota :
  • JEE Main must have passed in class 10+2 from a particular state and have cleared the examination will get preference in admission to the institutes of that state as compared to those who are from outside.
