Kerala Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Exam 2017(KEAM)

  • KEAM 2018 is also referred to as CEE exam in Kerala.
  • The full form of KEAM is Kerala Engineering, Architecture, & Medical.
  • KEAM is the passport for students who want to study professional courses like Animal Husbandry, Architecture, Forestry, Engineering, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Agriculture and Medical.
  • The general names using which KEAM is addressed are Kerala Medical Entrance and Kerala Engineering Entrance.
  • KEAM is basically conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Exam (CEE), Kerala.
  • KEAM is conducted in many centers across India and some destinations in abroad.
  • The Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations was established in 1983 as a separate set up for the conduct of Entrance Examinations for admission to Professional Courses in the State as per G.O.(Ms) No.31/83/H.Edn. dated 19.02.1983.
  • The Higher Education Department in the Secretariat is functioning as the administrative department of the Commisionerate of Entrance Examinations.
  • The Commissionerate has been conducting thirteen Entrance Examinations, both for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Professional Courses.
  • Of these examinations conducted in a time bound manner and catering to the needs of the aspirants of Professional Courses, the Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examinations (KEAM) is the major one in which near about one lakh seventy thousand candidates participate every year.
  • The other courses for which the CEE conducts Entrance Examinations are Three year LLB, Five Year LLB, LLM, MD Homoeo, MDS, MD Ayurveda, M Sc Nursing, PG Medical and PG Super Speciality.
  • In addition to the conduct of Entrance Examinations, the Commissionerate is making allotments to 5 Courses, KEAM, LLB 3 Year, LLB 5 Year, LLM and P G Medical Courses.
  • The allotments to rest of the courses are made by the authorities concerned.
  • The Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) followed in the admission to Medical Engineering and Agricultural Courses is an online procedure opened up to the candidate through a candidate friendly procedure of option exercise, subsequent allotment and fee remittance at the designated Bank.
  • All the allotments made by the Commissionerate will be on the basis of the rank list, and by observing the principles of reservations and will be in accordance with the orders of the Honourable Courts of Law and the orders issued by the Government.
  • The Commissionerate is usually making allotments to all the Government seats in Government Colleges, the Government and Management quota seats in Government Controlled Self-financing Colleges and the seats made available by Private Self-financing Managements to Government for allotment.

Document for verification

The documents to be submitted differ with each category of the applicants of KEAM 2018. Listed below are the names of the photocopied documents which the applicants will have to submit along with the print out of the filled KEAM Application Form 2018. No changes in the application form will be allowed after the online submission.

 

Keralite Category

  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate of the applicant showing the place of birth in Kerala. OR
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate of either of the parents of the applicant showing place of birth in Kerala with the certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the applicant. OR
  • Passport of the applicant, issued by Government of India, showing place of birth in Kerala or of either of the parents of the applicant showing birth place as Kerala along with a relationship certificate of the applicant and the parent. OR
  • Birth certificate of the applicant or the parent with birth place as Kerala which is issued by a competent authority. OR
  • A certificate from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to show that the applicant or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala in the prescribed format. OR
  • Certificate from a competent authority showing that the parent of the applicant is an All India Service officer allotted to Kerala cadre.

Non-Keralite Category I

  • Certificate from the employer of the applicant’s parent in the prescribed format has to be submitted. Also a certificate to show that the applicant has studied 11th and 12th standard in Kerala has to be obtained from the head of the institution of the last attended school.
  • Residential certificate from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to prove that the applicant has been a resident of Kerala state for a period of five years within a period of 12 years of his/her studies.

Non-Keralite Category II

  • Certificate of completion of qualifying examination in the prescribed format to prove their nativity should be submitted. OR
  • Passport issued by Government of India to prove Indian citizenship.

SC/ST/OBC Category

  • The applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OEC category will have to submit their documents in a particular format. The documents should be placed in the following order.
  • Print out of the KEAM 2018 Application Form.
  • Caste Certificate issued by the concerned Tahsildar of the community.
  • Self attested copy of the SSLC (or equivalent) certificate of the applicant to prove date of birth.
  • Proof of Nativity
  • Course Certificate in original filled in with signature and seal of the Head of the Institution in which the candidate is studying OR self attested copy of the final year mark list of the qualifying examination.
  • Original certificates as proof in support of any claim for special reservation.
  • Self-attested copy of medical certificate from the District Medical Board in the case of ‘Persons with Disabilities’.
  • A photograph of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm) same as the photograph uploaded on the online application, duly attested by the Head of the Institution which he/she studied last or by a Gazetted Officer should be affixed in the application form. All of the mentioned documents (as per the category of the applicant) along with the print out of the application form of KEAM 2018 will have to be sent to - “CEE, TVM of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, 5th Floor, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001”. No applications will be accepted after the last date.
  • The last date for the online submission of the application form of KEAM 2018 is February 27, 2018. Admissions will be provided to all applicants who qualify the entrance examination which will be held on April 24 and 25, 2018 and meet the eligibility criteria set by the state.

KEAM 2018 Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an Indian Citizen.
  • Students of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are also eligible for apply.
  • Admissions in professional courses are categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I and II.
  • 12th or equivalent exam with at least 50% marks in Mathematics, physics, & chemistry.
  • Completed the age of 17 years as or on 31st December of the year of admission.

KEAM Exam Reservation Details

  • Domicile students of Kerala State.
  • Students whose parents are working in Agriculture and fishery industries.
  • Parents of the students working as a Nurse in regular service under Gov't of Kerala.
  • Students who have some experience in the field of medicine.
  • Sports, Disability and Ex-service men.
